Dicen que a veces,
para exocizar los demonios
de un recuerdo,
es necesario contarlo como un cuento,
o en mi caso, como
imagen,
como historia visual.
Daughter of Caribbean Colombian parents who emigrated to New Jersey in the 1980’s, Ailyn Robles is a first-generation American who is exploring themes of identity, gender, and most recently, love, as part of her latest series, Amor de Sabado, where she interviews and documents love at home with diverse types families. The objective is to showcase families that don’t make part of the mainstream representation, especially in more conservative Latin America.
A self-made artist, Ailyn’s sensitivity and ability to connect with the stories of the subjects she photographs, allows her to capture the genuine feeling of the moment without making it completely staged, ensuring that the photographs retain their authenticity and are presented as a story.
Ailyn Robles lives between NY/NJ and Colombia
